A street-smart kid is working hard to become a partner in Peterson's garage, but he needs extra money. A chance encounter starts a rivalry between The Kid and boxing champ, Johnny Prentiss, and also garners the attention of local fight promoter who gives the mechanic a chance to box for money. Only The Kid is booked not because of any talent but as comedic diversion because of his scrawny physique and lack of skill. The Kid gets a chance to get the money for the garage by lasting against the champ in the ring, but does he even have a chance?
